Best of the Best

This past week I was very lucky. I got to see Wicked on Tuesday and Coldplay on Wednesday. Both of these shows were the best I've ever seen. Like so good I did not want them to end. I had read the book Wicked, the play was better, and that is rare for me to say. Coldplay is just as good live as they are on the CD, if not better because they are in the same room.

It was a great week, although Scout has really thrown a wrench in our carefree schedule.

Scouting Report

Well, we got a dog. Blane bought him for me for my birthday. I had been begging since forever to get a puppy. And, coincidentally we bought a house this week too, so the timing was perfect.

I named him Scout. Honestly, I wanted to name him "Aggie" or "Sully" or "Reed"... something that was in the Aggie family of names, but that lost out with my longhorn husband. So we agreed on Scout. Pretty cute I think.

He has had an adventurous couple of days his first night was spent at the Toti House, we were dog sitting, with 4 other dogs. That must have been a rough night for him, he left me quite a present in his kennel to clean up. He also got to meet his best cousin Rosco. Rosco was pretty jelous and even pouted a little, Scout was excited to see another guy just like him. Rosco, however was too proud to play.

His second night was reminiscent of having a new born baby. He slept in his kennel in our room, each time he had to go out he would cry. Blane and I took turns taking him out... like good parents.

Today he spent most of the morning at the new house while we got the workers started on paint and such.

Life is good for little Scout.

I am worn out.

Ponder

I wonder when the Beatles will be on iTunes... give it up Micheal Jackson.

This is a big annoyance in life.

Stay Home, Please

Last night Blane and I went to a movie. It was actually really good, State of Play. It had a great cast and I did not fall asleep which usually means its a winner.

I have three reservations about going to the movies, especially Silverado.
1. Drunk people
2. Middle school children
3. Germs

Luckily because we were in the so called VIP theatre we did not encounter any #2's, but because we were in the VIP theatre we sat next to the obnoxious couple who finished 2 bottles of wine before the movie was over.

Let me paint the picture... they arrive late and then proceed to ask Blane and me to move over so they could fit, wine and all. We moved because we are nice, and at this point I was not aware of their soon to be drunken state.

The girl is wearing a small piece of fabric on her behind, which I am sure she called shorts. She had on gladiator sandals with 5 inch heels and some really annoying bangles that clanked together the entire night. I guess the shorts were uncomfortable because she would stand up about every 10 minutes to adjust her outfit. annoying.

As the movie went on she had to use the restroom, her husband has tried to cut her off by this point... I know this because they were talking LOUDLY. So she gets up to go the the bathroom and I guess the 5 inch heels and drunken stupor were not a good combo because she feel down the entire flight of stairs. Her husband laughed... did not even offer assistance. Just laughed.

On top of all of this they recounted every scene out loud to one another just to make sure their drunk brains were comprehending, and after each of her many bathroom trips he had to catch her up on what she missed...

She also was fairly busy on her Blackberry all night too... at one point her friend sent a picture message which apparently was not a good picture so she felt it necessary to yell obscenities out loud about how bad her friend looked. AHHHHHHHH.

This should be illegal.

That my Friday night in a nutshell.

Changes

I have an extreme love for Anthropologie. Extreme. I worked there for a year in college and spent most of my check there, but how can you resist with that fabulous discount.
The beautiful dress you see is one I have tried on probably 6 times. Honestly, it screams KENDALL. Even my mom agrees. However, Blane and I are in the process of saving for the house that we close on June 5th. Anything and everything I buy goes toward the house, which is great. But I want the dress. Bad. It is on the lesser end of expensive but I still would feel guilt pains knowing that I could have purchased fabric, paint, even a lawnmower using that same money. So I have resisted.
I have often though about going back to work there and just working one day a week. I always talk myself out of it though, my time is more valuable than clothes, found items, Voluspa candles, and fabulous furniture. I think.

lake rat

I am a self proclaimed lake rat. I would spend everyday of my life on the lake if could. I have been lucky to have a lake house all my life. My Grandpa Hall and Grandma Hall built the house in the 70's. I did not know either of them, so in some way I feel like this is one of the only tangible things that keep me connected to them. I love being at that house. We have done various changes to it over the years but we have tried to keep everything that was important to them. For example the stairs in the house were purchased by my grandma at an antique show, so when we went to redo the floors a few years ago we left them "uncarpeted" and stained them.

Other than the senitmental aspect of the lake house it is just plain relaxing, no matter the season. There have been times where there have been 16 people sleeping in that house, no matter the crowd it is always a good time.

Sun, family, water, laughter. Nothing better.

Bad idea...

I am currently reading three books. Bad idea.

The list includes:
New Moon
A Nicholas Sparks book of which I cant remember the name.
Murder on the Orient Express

I often do this too myself. I get caught up in one book and then I leave it somewhere like at my mom and dads, at the lake, where ever. So I pick up a new one. And this is where it lands me, reading three at once.

Although I must say New Moon has captured me more than the others, I still feel a tinge of guilt when I choose one over the other. Why, I don't know. The books don't have feelings, I know this. I guess it is for the same reason I "rotate" my dishes and towels... that way the ones on the bottom aren't just sitting there being unused. Slightly OCD I suppose.

Other such Kendallisms include:

-making sure the tags on the towels are not sticking out when they get folded. (Kelsey gets real annoyed with my towel folding obsession).
-making sure I have a constant stock of baking essentials, therefore I always have at least 3 bags of powdered sugar, 8 pounds of flour, more vanilla than an ice cream factory, and other random necessities.
-pillows on the couch
-having a constant supply of LUX candles

I really could go on and on but I don't want to scare anyone off.
